Campaign of the JSIC „Seesam Latvia” encourages parents to insure children

The Joint Stock Insurance Company "Seesam Latvia” began the campaign on May 10, offering the possibility of signing a child accident insurance contract, by paying half of the standard price for the policy. During this campaign, the child accident insurance policy price is ranging from 3 LVL. In the course of this campaign, until the end of July, there were signed more than 2,500 insurance contracts, which is two times more than during the entire year in 2009. 

As a result of the increase in the number of insured children, also the number of claims increased in June and July, and the amount of insurance indemnities paid has already achieved 75% of the amount paid in the past year.

Statistics show that just during the summer holidays children get more injuries. In summer, children often remain at home without parental supervision. And adults tend to forget that the seemingly secure home environment, however, causes a number of risk factors, such as medicines placed within the reach of children or different chemicals and solutions used in the household. Even if the parents have said to children that it is forbidden to ride bicycle in the streets without being accompanied by adults, children tend to violate this ban ... Children will go to the river and swim there...  

AAS “Seesam Latvia" is the first Latvian insurance company that offers opportunities for parents to buy a children's insurance policy which provides for the payment of compensation not only when an accident has happened to the children themselves, but also if a child has inadvertently caused damages to a third party or personal property of a third party, such as falling from bicycle and breaking the headlight of a car parked on the roadside, or breaking out a neighbour's apartment window when playing catch.

Insurance can not protect children from accidents, but by concluding a contract of insurance and paying a relatively small amount for the policy, parents can expect that the costs of the consequences of a given situation will be borne by the insurer.
