Despite the fact that the insurance contract does not compensate for losses caused by global natural disasters and acts of nature, "Seesam Latvia" has adopted decision to to examine any insurance claim submitted in this regard according to a special procedure in order to find the best possible solution for our customers, recognizing that this is one of those exceptional cases where it is necessary to assume additional obligations in the interests of the customers. Therefore AAS “Seesam Latvia” will exceptionally cover the unforeseen expenses of the insured persons for purchase of a substitution airfare or use of an alternative means of transport according to the following conditions be fulfilled, if the airfare and the AAS Seesam Latvia travel insurance policy has been purchased before April 14, 2010 (inclusive) and if it is specified in the insurance policy that the risk “Delayed or temporarily cancelled flight” is insured.
Insurance indemnity amount will be equivalent to the difference between the amount paid by the insured person for the substitution airfare or for the use of alternative transport to reach the destination point of the cancelled flight, and the compensation paid by the airline, but in any case, the insurance indemnity amount will not exceed the sum insured for the risk “Delayed or temporarily cancelled flight” specified in the policy.
The insured person will be reimbursed only for the unexpected costs incurred by this person for purchase of the substitution airfare or use of an alternative transport.
The insured risk “Delayed or temporarily cancelled flight” does not apply to charter flights, and therefore any insurance compensation will not be paid if the cancelled flight has been a charter flight.
To receive an insurance indemnity, the following documents shall be submitted:

an insurance claim (see www.seesam.lv);

a copy of a personal identification document;

insurance policy or certification of insurance;

the cancelled flight ticket or a copy thereof;

the specific airline's statement confirming the cancellation of the flight and the compensation amount paid to the person;

a copy of the new airfare or the ticket of the alternative means of transport.
